If you're anything like me, I ride up to the last minute, do a few stretches and then rush out the door and back to my daily life of kids, errands and chores.  I push through the hardest workouts I can manage.  For me, riding is my "me time".  My time to see how much I have.  See if I can be better than I was yesterday.  I'm a different person on my bike.  I love my daily rides.  I cherish them.  I wouldn't be the person I am today with them.

What I don't like is getting injured.  When I can't ride, I am not happy to be around.  I find that I go go go until something pulls or twists that prevents me from my workout.  Then I look for a quick solution.  I am willing to try anything to alleviate the pain and get me back on my bike.  Every time it's the same self-talk.  Becky...had I only spent more time stretching and taking care of my body.  I would't be in this painful situation....

We are busy.  We squeak as much out of our day as time allows.  I want to do yoga.  I want to stretch longer than 2 minutes after class.  But when push comes to shove, it's this very important piece of my workouts that is sacrificed.  I keep telling myself I need to be ahead of the next injury.  If I would just give myself that extra hour or two a week.

So my health and fitness goal for March is to commit to stretching.  It takes 21 days to make a new habit I've been told.  So I'm dedicating the month of March to my flexibilitiy.  After receiving this article from a friend and yoga instructor I personally committed myself to making this part of my workout a priority.

Here's to my month of stretching!
